Samaritan House serves homeless persons who identify as women and women with minor children (age 0 through 17). Adults must be able to take care of themselves, and must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Does not accept sex offenders or those convicted of arson.
Serves eligible clients who are currently homeless (living in a car, park, sidewalk, abandoned/condemned building, or a building without heat during winter). Also serves eligible clients who are about to become homeless, due to one of the following: 1) court-ordered eviction within 7 days; 2) discharge within 7 days from an institution in which they have lived for more than 30 consecutive days; 3) "doubled-up" with family or friends and told to leave within 7 days. Those already residing in emergency shelters or other transitional or supportive housing for homeless persons are considered homeless.

Photo ID for adult, social security numbers for adults and accompanying children. Without ID, only the Director or Case Manager can give approval for admission. Assistance will be offered to potential residents to identify resources for copies of identification (Job & Family Services, Doctor, School, Employer, etc.).
